ANIMATION/3D

A collection of my short animations and 3D assets, where I explore storytelling, character design, and dialogue. As a self-taught artist diving deeper into Blender and 2D animation, this page captures my journey into the dynamic world of animation and 3D creation.

“Tim & Jim” is a lighthearted line-art animation featuring my original characters, Tim and Jim. The story revolves around Tim, a chronic overthinker who works hard to support his family, and Jim, who encourages him to unwind and enjoy life. Through their conversation, I explore the theme of balancing work and self-care.

This project is my first comic-style animation with dialogue and background music, highlighting the importance of conversation and connection. By voicing both characters and using an AI voice changer, I brought their playful yet meaningful exchange to life, reflecting the need to find joy amidst everyday pressures.

This Blender animation of Tim captures a reflective moment in his dimly lit room through a montage-style presentation. Instead of fluid motion, I focused on mood, enhanced by a voicemail from his wife, Kim, urging him to join their family, which adds depth to the narrative of connection and isolation. I modeled the furniture and Tim, using textures from BlenderKit except for his fur, bringing the scene's ambiance to life while maintaining emphasis on mood and story.

This is an environmental study in Blender. I aimed to create a "ruins" style environment with a dynamic sky. I thoroughly enjoyed constructing this scene and experimenting with the sky's colors.

This Blender project was my first creation of the character Tim and served as a comedic music video-style animation set to "Boulevard of Broken Dreams." At the time, I was still learning Blender, so I used building assets and textures from BlenderKit to piece the scene together. The original five-minute video, which repeated key clips with interspersed lyrics, was displayed on a CRT monitor at the Beall Center for Art and Technology at UCI, adding a nostalgic touch to the overall experience.

This is a short animation based on Ian Cheng's AI, B.O.B. It is a humorous interpretation of how B.O.B. learned to mimic baby noises and communicate through noises rather than the languages we are used to.

A pixel cutscene for Video Game Development Club at UCI.

This pixel art cutscene was created as part of my contributions to the Video Game Development Club team, serving as both a transition animation and a still prop within the game.

I modeled this low poly man character in Blender and used an animation preset in Mixamo to make him move.
